Hello Friends of Eclipse!
As we look ahead to the start of an exciting new season, I am thrilled to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable journey of our inaugural 2023 season. This season was marked by determination, growth, and community support that columnated in the success of Eclipse Drum and Bugle Corps.
Our Inaugural Season - A Triumph of New Beginnings
2023 was not just a season; it was a chapter in the history of Eclipse Drum and Bugle Corps that will forever define who we are and what we are capable of achieving. With only 24 members at our core, we demonstrated the incredible potential within our ranks and the capacity for future growth of the program
Milestones in Our First Season
Let's take a moment to celebrate the milestones and achievements that made our inaugural season truly exceptional:
Formation of Eclipse: The founding of our program was the biggest hurdle we accomplished as a group. The educational team was able to turn an idea into a tangible experience for our membership.
Image and Design: Despite our modest size, our design team created a performance that was enjoyable and engaging. Our show, aptly titled "BANG!", was a captivating fusion of Gustav Holst's "Mars, Bringer of War" and AJR's "Bang."
Competitive Debut: Stepping onto the competitive stage for the first time, we demonstrated our unique take on a traditional performance. We traveled to Ohio as well as DCI Open Class Prelims in Muncie.
SoundSport and Music Festival at DCI Finals: Our journey culminated at the SoundSport and Music Festival at DCI Finals. It was an honor to be part of such an amazing event, where we received a silver rating. In addition, we were recognized with the "Best in Class Youth" award, a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of our members and the staff that built the foundation for success.
Staff Dedication: Behind every successful program are dedicated staff members who work tirelessly to mentor, instruct, and shape our performers. I owe a debt of gratitude to our exceptional staff who poured their hearts and expertise into our members.
Setting Our Sights on 2024 - Shaping the Vision
Building on the incredible success of our inaugural season, 2024 promises to be a year of expansion, innovation, and enhanced member experiences. Here are our key focus areas for the upcoming year:
Color Guard and Front Ensemble: One of our most significant aspirations for 2024 is the addition of a color guard and front ensemble to our program. These additions will not only broaden our artistic horizons but also create new opportunities for members with diverse talents and interests.
Increasing Our Membership: While our inaugural season with 24 members was a resounding success, we aim to welcome even more passionate individuals into the Eclipse family in 2024. A larger corps means more creativity, diversity, and energy to fuel our performances.
Enhancing Member Experiences: Our commitment to nurturing our members' growth, both as artists and individuals, remains unwavering. In 2024, we will continue to enhance our educational programs, providing our members with invaluable learning experiences.
Community Outreach: Our dedication to our community remains steadfast. In 2024, we will further expand our outreach through increased partnerships and forging those deeper connections with our local supporters. This program will only exist if the community allows it, building that trust and network is vital for the continued success of Eclipse.
Overnight Experiences and Meals: To provide a more immersive and impactful experience for our members, we plan to introduce overnight experiences during our rehearsal camps. This will foster greater camaraderie, teamwork, and dedication among our members. In addition, we plan to have meals provided to aid in decreasing food scarcity within our ranks.
Financial Sustainability: We recognize the importance of financial stability for our continued growth. In 2024, we will work diligently to improve our financial picture, securing the necessary resources to support our expanded activities and future aspirations.
Member Cost and affordability: The cost for the 2024 season has not been determined at this time. We will strive to keep cost of membership as affordable as possible while providing a safe, healthy, and nurturing place for our membership.
Final Thoughts
As we bid farewell to an unforgettable inaugural season and embrace the possibilities of 2024, I extend my deepest gratitude to every member of Eclipse Drum and Bugle Corps, our dedicated staff, our supportive families, and our passionate fans.
