Jonathan Spencer

Low Brass Technician

Jonathan "JonJon" Spencer serves as the Director of Bands at Foreman Public Schools in Southwest Arkansas, where he has led the program to continued success throughout its competitive history.

Jonathan received his undergraduate degree in Music Education from Henderson State University, with euphonium as his primary instrument under the instruction of Dr. Jamie Lipton.

Throughout his teaching career in Arkansas, the bands Jonathan has worked with have earned superior ratings and consistent accolades. He has contributed to multiple top-three finishes, including assisting the Arkadelphia High School Wind Ensemble in winning its first-ever concert contest in 2024. Although his focus is on brass instruction, his bands have consistently won "Best Visual Performance in Class" over the last few years.

Demonstrating his ongoing passion for marching arts, Jonathan previously served in administrative roles in Drum Corps International, working with the Blue Knights in 2023 and the Troopers during their return to finals in 2022. He also marched his age-out season with the Troopers in 2021.

A lifelong Arkansan at heart, Jonathan resides in Texarkana, TX, where he works as a full-time educator and musician. He performs with the Natural State Brass Band (a British-style brass band) and BrassCab (a New Orleans-style brass and jazz ensemble). An alumnus of Kappa Kappa Psi, Jonathan enjoys singing with his brothers, playing Magic: The Gathering, watching all the sports, and spending time with friends and family.
